    The primary responsibility of the Driver is to safely operate a tractor-trailer to transport molten sulphur from local refineries to area customers.

    Responsibilities

    • Handle the loading, unloading and delivering procedures necessary to transport molten sulphur from local refineries to their assigned destination locations
    • Assist the operation with other tasks deemed necessary to meet customer expectations
    • Report maintenance issue to the maintenance crew
    • Understands our critical service requirements and see they are met
    • Take an active role in our safety program including attendance to all safety meetings and ensure safe behaviors of self and subordinates

     

    Qualifications

    • Class A CDL with 1 year’s experience, tanker experience preferred
    • Tanker, Hazmat and Air Brakes Endorsements
    • Minimum age is 23; exceptions made on a case-by case basis
    • Because this position is required to enter refineries, must meet refinery standards for entering the plant, i.e. clean criminal history  
    • Should understand best practices of maintaining and safely operating tractor trailers
    • Must be safety conscious and understand safe work practices for a refinery and on the road
    • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
    • Comfortable with heights including the ability to walk up and down ladders on trailers Minimum experience is 1 year of tractor trailer experience, tanker experience is desired
    • Can successfully pass Savage’s road test, which will include a proper pre and post trip inspection of the vehicles
    • No more than 2 moving violations in the last two years
    • No serious moving violations in the past three years including:
      • DUI or DWI
      • Any other alcohol related violations
      • Hit and run
      • Failure to report an accident
      • Negligent homicide arising out of the use of a motor vehicle
      • Operating a motor vehicle while under suspension or revocation
      • Using a commercial motor vehicle without the owners permission
      • Permitting an unauthorized person to drive a company vehicle
      • Reckless driving
      • Speed contest
    • Must show a basic knowledge of DOT regulations as determined in interviews
    • A good attitude. Shows interest as a team player, and is observed to be safe and conscientious in the workplace

    Physical Requirements

     

    • Drivers are routinely required to work outdoors and as a result are exposed to the elements
    • They must be physically able to handle large tools and equipment (60 lbs), climb on and off the equipment, ascend and descend ladders, and should not have a fear of heights
